Nominated by Adam Cuerden (talk) on 2010-04-16 19:33 (UTC)
Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Chiaroscuro woodcut
Used in Global usage
Reason In the last nomination, it was suggested this would be a better scope for this image. There may be some reasonable competition on this front, but I think it's a good choice. The previous nomnations under the scope "Tiburtine sibyl" are here. -- Adam Cuerden (talk)

  •  Support To me the most valuable image of its category: 1/ The topic is worth a scope: "It was in the medium of woodcut that color was first introduced into printmaking, in the prints known as chiaroscuro woodcuts" (see [1]); 2/ Antonio da Trento, a 16th-century Italian printmaker, is acknowledged to be skillful in this technique; its remaining works are part of various collections and/or exhibitions (see [2], [3], [4] for instance); 3/ The nonimated image presents a fine work of restoration, well documented and very illustrative of the medium. File:Mary_Coriolano2.jpg could be a competitor, but a 16th-century work is a better illustration IMO, as chiaroscuro woodcuts came along at that time. --Myrabella (talk) 00:24, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
