My ideas and concepts relate to the natural world which surrounds us and the passage of time. I use a curving line in all my work as it is expressive of movement and hence the passing of time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Weaver80 (talk • contribs) 15:10, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My name is Michael Crompton and I have been a Tapestry Weaver for sixty years. Following primary school, St Andrews, Radcliffe and Stand Grammar School, Whitefield, Manchester I went to Bishop Otter College, Chichester to study Primary Education and Woven Textiles and Cabinet Making. After a period in primary education in Berkshire where I became a Deputy Head teacher and in 1972 I moved to Teacher Education at St, Hild's College, Durham as a Senior Lecturer in Textiles and Primary Education and later in the School of Education, University of Durhan where I remained until 1982. In 1977 I set up with my wife, Mary, a Weaving Studio in the Upper Weardale village of Ireshopeburn where we worked until 2003 when we moved to the Morecambe Bay area and where i continue to weave.
