Hello. That's a nice animation, but it's too fast. Could you take care of that? Sincerly, Sarazyn Got milk? 05:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Astrokey, this one could do with a tiny bit more context. What do the numbers mean? I presume it's number of winners but it could be number of times hosted, or something else... also it's tagged as "self" but says it's by "Joey80, from wikipedia". Could you clear that up? You can use something like {{GFDL-user|Joey80|en}}:

Summer Olympics[edit]

I'm sorry to have to nitpick when you do such sterling work, but I have to make a one minor correction to the map series on countries competing at each Games (Category:Olympic Games maps). As, until 1921, all of the island of Ireland was part of the United Kingdom, it competed as part of the British team until 1920 (inclusive). Bastin 21:47, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Cricket "cartoons"[edit]

Are these not just derivitave works of copyright photographs, that you have traced? (e.g. this and this). ed g2stalk 12:10, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would you agree that they should be deleted then? ed g2stalk 16:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just seen the olympic maps you created for each olympiad. But, why did you omit New-Caledonia and French Guyana in green (that are part of France as french departement and territory overseas) ? And I have a question: where did you find the list of countries that did not participate at the 1976 olympic games or the 1980 games ? I would be interested in such list. Khardan 13:48, 16 July 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I didn't see that some islands were missing (Martinique, Guadeloupe, Hawaï...) on the original map. But one of the best french swimmer (en:Malia Metella, silver medallist in Athens) is from French Guiana. It should have a little line beetween French guiana and France like beetween Corsica and France, or a note, somewhere perhaps. But the best is to put them in green because, we can think, seeing this map, that they are independant countries that did not participate (Like Western Sahara) and it's false. Map Request[edit]

Could you make a map from Image:BlankMap-Europe-v3.png that shows Europe in 1791, before republican France and Napolean? the preceding unsigned comment is by 24.59.97.219 (talk • contribs)

I suppose I could look into it, I have a map of europe in 1789, would the borders have been the same? --Astrokey44 22:31, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
how is this? (didnt know if it would be best to show holy roman empire or individual states so i went with states) --Astrokey44 16:07, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. Thank you.

Unlawful license change[edit]

You cannot take an image licensed under GFDL, modify it, and license that under CC-BY-SA as if you were the "creator" of it. That is in direct violation of the GFDL, which explicity says (section 4) that you may not change the license for "Modified versions" of the material. If any of the original material you're working with is offered under only the GFDL, you cannot license your version under any other license. It has to stay GFDL-only. That's one of the core tenets of the GFDL, and its why original creators are encouraged to dual-license their work, to allow modified versions to be licensed under more than one license. I've corrected the license info on Image:Nigeria-karte-politisch_english.png; please fix it for any other files you've mislabeled like this, before someone gets sued for copyright violation. the preceding unsigned comment is by 66.93.200.116 (talk • contribs)

I thought I did license it under the GFDL.. [1] it says GFDL at the bottom --Astrokey44 22:23, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Astrokey. This is a very nice map, but I just noticed two small problems relating to the Nordic countries. Finland and Sweden were still the same country until 1809, so the border between them should be removed. Secondly, the south-eastern part of the Swedish-Russian border is slightly off (in south-east Finland). Otherwise, thumbs up for a very nice map. Cheers. Valentinian (talk) 22:31, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World_1898_empires_colonies_territory.png[edit]

Hi. First of all, nice work!

A question about Image:World_1898_empires_colonies_territory.png. Why USA are listed among the empires/colonial powers?--FlagUploader 16:34, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks :) Because it shows major powers, not just those with colonies. The US is usually shown on 1898 world maps of colonialism that depict the situation after the spanish-american war when the philippines/guam/puerto rico were occupied --Astrokey44 01:31, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Middle-earth maps[edit]

Hi. What do you think of moving the various 'regional maps' you created to En Wikipedia as 'fair use'? They could go under the same names so none of the articles using them would need to be updated. Just looking for options since they seem likely to be removed here. --CBDunkerson 11:19, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a mistake about Zimbabwe : it is badly indebted (109.8 % of GDP), but appears in green on the map at Image:Public debt percent gdp world map.PNG... See https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/rankorder/2186rank.html Baronnet 08:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another map request[edit]

This one is just for my personal entertainment, more or less, but still, if you've got the time -- could you create two maps, one of the Middle East and one world map, both showing the new borders for the Middle East as proposed here? Would be great. Thanks! —Nightstallion (?) 06:57, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yet another map request[edit]

Could you make a map from here [2] showing Oregon Country, Rupert's land, The Republic of Texas (both claimed and established borders) and Upper and Lower Canada?

I think 1840 would be the right year to show all these so how about this? --Astrokey44 12:37, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
