Request: Please, name files with good file names, before you upload.

[edit]

Today, [1] you uploaded 16 files from the United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Flick account without good file names.

At Category:Files uploaded by RandomUserGuy1738, since 2016, you have uploaded over 82,000+ photos, mostly from Flickr.com. Your upload category contains over 5,000 have bad files names and file names that are meaningless to search engines and are invisible the Wikimedia Commons users looking for media.

You have used com:flickr2commons tool for many years and you know this tool empowers users to change any file name before uploading file(s). Any original file name can be changed by using any "prefix" (descriptive wording) that tool users choose to create "good file names." This just takes a few seconds, before you upload these files.

Upload Wizard is another tool that you have used for years that you know also allows users to change file names before uploading files.

Category:Files from Flickr with bad file names has over 50,000 files. You can help prevent the needless use of already limited volunteer resources work used to rename your files by taking a little more of your time to make good, searchable file names before uploading files in the future. Will you help by do that?

Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 16:17, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I do not change names when I use flickr2commons is because when you mass upload from flickr2commons, it doesn't recognize if there are files already on commons and it will cause duplicates to occur on commons. However, mass uploading does save a massive amount of time. To avoid the issue of duplicates, I do keep the names as they are. If I see it as appropriate to change the name to be more descriptive, I will do that. RandomUserGuy1738 (talk) 16:29, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:191120-D-AP390-3109 (49101588318).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wrong country identified in the file name you created- Croatia, not Poland.

[edit]

@RandomUserGuy1738- please, correct the country you mis-identified in the file name you created here: File:National Day of Poland IMG 7411 (53757557730).jpg. Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 00:21, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
