Hi Pianist! I've found your message in the discussion page of image:Coat of arms of the Soviet Union.svg. Since I have modified the colours recently, I would like to know how do you think about it. If you have some suggestions, please tell me. Thank you and best regars, F l a n k e r 18:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's looking better, but color of the oceans is bad. Look here.
From constitution:

That means:
Gold: Hammer & sickle, sun, ear of wheat.
Sky blue: water.
Light brown: land.
Red: ribbon; star with gold border. --Pianist 19:18, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

COA Russian SFSR.svg

[edit]

Hi! Do you want to correct the borders? If so I can do that.

Yes, please --Pianist 14:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In general it's easy to correct an image: all you must to do is simply upload it again clicking on "Upload a new version of this file" at the bottom of the screen. Than click on "Browse..." button, select the new version of your image and, if you want, adding a comment in the "Summary" area and finally click on "Upload file" ("Destination filename" is obvusly locked). That's it! --F l a n k e r 12:49, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS: beautiful image, my congratulations! --F l a n k e r 12:51, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks --Pianist 14:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Belarusian SSR flag

[edit]

Nice work on the image. Just any chance I could see the decree or law about the flag? User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 10:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have one on russian language. --Pianist 10:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, with the edits you done with that image, would you do me the honor of fixing up Image:Flag of Belarus.svg so a reduced SVG code file could work? I been trying to get the official colors for years and no one has said anything. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 10:21, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll search law about modern Belarusian flag later. --Pianist 10:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Everything about the flag is at this page, including the official document that contains the official drawings. I have been able to get my hands on "РСТ Беларуси 911-91" yet. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 19:51, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Russian flag (1991-1993)

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you had changed the colors of the Russian flag on this image from a darker shade to a lighter white, azure, and scarlet. I am wondering what sources you used to determine these as being the "right colors," as you state in the edit summary. As far as I am aware, the Russian government has never released the specific shades of the colors used on the flag, so Wikipedia currently uses the colors found on the Kremlin's Web site. The only official changes to the 1991-1993 flag was a change in proportions. Without any official sources stating that a color change was issued, it is inappropriate to speculate. We should keep the colors used on the current Russian flag . --71.112.145.203 11:51, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mr. anonymous IP. You know nothing. Colors (white ("белый"), azure ("лазоревый") and scarlet ("алый")) are in law of 1991. In new law of 1993 they are white ("белый"), blue ("синий") and red ("красный").
Text of law in Russian: Государственный флаг РСФСР представляет собой прямоугольное полотнище с равновеликими горизонтальными полосами: верхняя полоса белого цвета, средняя - лазоревого цвета и нижняя - алого цвета. Отношение ширины флага к его длине - 1:2. --Pianist 13:23, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you misunderstood me. Granted, there is a change of wording, but you have to take into consideration that "лазоревый" is interpreted in a variety of ways; it can mean dark blue, light blue, etc. When it became obvious that people were taking the color to be different things, resulting in a huge difference in what the flag looked like, the constitution was specifically changed to "medium blue" so as to avoid confusion in the future. Arguably then, one might conclude that the government was not happy with what people were taking azure to mean; likely they meant "лазоревый" as just the pan-Slavic blue color seen on the traditional Russian flag.
I guess what I'm really wondering is your rational for using Wikipedia's invention of what "azure" looks like (maybe something about consistency?), what makes it the "right color"; one could just as easily have taken Pantone's definition, used any of the shades at VisiBone, or just used plain old blue and no one could tell you any different, considering there is no official definition of azure. Did the Russian government tell us what shade of azure they want? That's what I meant by saying we should avoid speculation and just use the blue we see on the flag now; in the absence of facts it would be rational to use what we know rather than arbitrarily assign colors based on vague definitions.
By the way, I take it you did not intend to offend me when saying "I know nothing." Let's call it a conflict of languages and drop it so we can avoid bringing the issue of WP:NPA to the table. --71.112.145.203 03:21, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Russain government never set official specifications in Pantone (or other) for colors on flag of 1991 or 1993. But if you are not daltonian, you know that azure and blue, scarlet and red are not the same. In official web-site of Russian president flag was made by ordinary webmaster. He sets 100% of RGB-blue and 100% of RGB-red.
If you know better shadow for azure, write here in Hex with WP:RS and I will change it. --Pianist 05:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SVG. --Pianist (talk) 04:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Russian SFSR.svg

[edit]

--Pianist (talk) 07:52, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation.svg: about the last changes

[edit]

I've posted the discussion in the talk page: File talk:Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation.svg. Cheers, F l a n k e r (talk) 10:18, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, How could you say that a scan with a bad color balance could be better than a black&white version? The document doesn't have any colors, so a B&W version will always be better than a colored version, even if the colors were corrected. I think you should also ask first. Regards, Yann (talk) 08:30, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Color version looks better (an old yellow paper). And an edited version is bad - gray background, just desaturated. --Pianist (talk) 05:58, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

С уважением, --Умед Джайхони (talk) 15:13, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Color of Soviet Flag

[edit]

What are the color codes for the soviet flag and the hammer and sickle? --Rymich13 (talk) 16:19, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Any tint of red and gold that you want. It should look naturally. --Pianist (talk) 12:15, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I mean to say, what is the PMS Pantone code for the flag specifically the red, ive seen everything from HEX code #CC0000 to #FF2400 (scarlet). Would scarlet be too bright for the actual one that was used or a slightly darker red? --Rymich13 (talk) 02:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
