Sandbox

Please do not manually clean the sandbox, edits should only be reverted if the edit goes against Commons policies. The sandbox is automatically cleaned by bot and users tests are to stay until the bot cleans it. Riley Huntley (talk) 20:07, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

There are also other users that are reverting edits in the sandbox too. Also, the bot sometimes delays, and doesn't clean the sandbox sometimes for 1 hour. And my reverts are part of my tests with wm-bot too. Thanks, Poké95 01:05, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
Not to be rude but.. "other people are doing it too" is the argument of a child. From what I can see, you're the only user reverting edits that do not fall under the "copyrighted, offensive or libelous content in the sandbox" policy. The bot intentionally delays depending on how recent the edit is, this gives fair chance to users to test. I fail to see how your edits are part of tests with wm-bot, and even if they are, reverting someone else's edit within minutes as a "test" is inappropriate. If you're looking for somewhere to test, test.wikipedia is your friend. Riley Huntley (talk) 02:07, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
Unrelated matter; I've left you a message on IRC with wm-bot. I have a backlog of work that you might be interested in helping with. Riley Huntley (talk) 04:55, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

Little Question

Hi,

Maybe I'm stupid but I don't know what is EXIF data ?--Sismarinho (talk) 06:44, 21 April 2016 (UTC)PS : SARCASM ahnd FU

Missing permission for Own work

Pokéfan95

Please don't add {{No permission since}} if the files seems to be Own work or tagged with {{PD-self}} (namely File:Ireland Airport interior.jpg), because Own work is a valid permission. Unless you have proof of copyvio, you must nominate for deletion these files instead. --Amitie 10g (talk) 14:30, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

@Amitie 10g: I tagged that file as "no permission" because the description says that it was taken by Ioganathan P, which is different to the uploader. I know when to add "no permission" and "copyvio". Thanks, Poké95 23:53, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
@Amitie 10g: I notice you have verified this media through OTRS. Why was this ticket handled with no questioning of the contradiction in description and author? The OTRS ticket claims the author is an entire different person, why was this not questioned? I apologize if I am missing something. Riley Huntley (talk) 06:27, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Help?

Pokéfan95, I know you've been patrolling Ragilnih and I have a question. I uploaded the correct colors from the official YouTube brand guide for File:YouTube logo 2015.svg multiple times (I've even tried to contact this user, but received no response.) I keep getting reverted by him with no explanation as to why. It is very frustrating and was wondering what possibly I could do? We should be using the colors from the brand guide. Thanks, ☔️ Corkythehornetfan ☔️ 19:32, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: Hello, I reverted it to the version before the upload war (your version). Corkythehornetfan and Ragilnih, please discuss about the logo in the talk page before reverting again, otherwise, I will put this up to COM:AN/P. Thanks, Poké95 00:46, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm done with with the uploading it. If they can't communicate with me via their talk page or mine, then I'm not going to waste my time with them. Thanks again! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan ☔️ 01:12, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Pokéfan95, thanks for your comment at Amitie 10g's talk page. For some reason they decided to respond on my talk page. I do have a question though, and apparently they don't want to answer... I was wondering if I am able to crop this file (as a new file) to bring him more closer so you can see him better since I received permission to upload this file? I know with US-Gov't officials pictures you can, but wasn't sure with these. Thanks, ☔️ Corkythehornetfan ☔️ 16:51, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Of course you can crop that image, since you got the permission. You may either overwrite the file with the crop or upload the crop as a new file. I recommend using CropTool. Don't forget, it should be lossless, not precise, otherwise there will be a loss of quality. Thanks, Poké95 23:26, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Perfect! It looks way better than the original! Thanks! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan ☔️ 00:11, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Yes, it looks better than the original. Your welcome! Poké95 00:18, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
File:Air Force One in Havana (25562710754).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Contributions by WMF office banned users

I see that @Natuur12: has mass reverted some of your deletions from DRs of the WMF globally banned User:Ktr101. In recent weeks the account contributed in several DRs and as this was shortly before the ban, they must be considered suspect and may be related to the ban, we are unlikely to ever be provided with any evidence. I suggest you follow my approach in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Les peluches font du géocaching - Toulouse.jpg, as making a note that the account has been banned would be helpful for any closing admin, and simply striking text does not stop it from being read.

I note that other WMF banned users have had images and comments retrospectively reviewed and sometimes deleted/suppressed entirely, but we should not encourage this to become an acceptable practice in the same way as it has been on the English Wikipedia. There is no official support for a damnatio memoriae for blocked or banned users, though there is no harm in marking comments from a banned user as being from a banned user, especially where the comments or views may influence actions being made by administrators post-ban and this information then becomes highly relevant. Thanks -- (talk) 14:52, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Please remove tag on Levant (satellite)

File is fair use and correctly attributed. Thanks Drsmoo (talk)

@Drsmoo: Hello, fair use is not accepted on Commons, please see Commons:Fair use for details why we don't accept such images. Also, please sign your posts with ~~~~, not ~~~. Thanks, Poké95 03:18, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Wiki Commons is full of images from Google Earth, in fact, there is a whole category. Drsmoo (talk) 03:20, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
@Drsmoo: Can you show me an example of one? Maybe the images you're saying are the one that are uploaded locally on English Wikipedia, not Wikimedia Commons. Poké95 03:22, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Google_Earth I actually didn't know it was possible to upload an image solely to English Wikipedia. I'll be happy to upload the image to English Wikipedia instead though, thanks. Drsmoo (talk) 04:18, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
@Drsmoo: I just tagged some files at that category as copyvio. Don't forget to follow their non-free content criteria. You can upload an image locally to enwiki via en:Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard. Thanks, Poké95 04:21, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Perimissions

Hi I think there's been some mistake those images all belong to me and I can provide ample evidence and proof of that for exmaple File:Sanjev Rajaram Assist.gif is a video taken from my iPhone that I converted into a gif it clearly features ME and an adminstrator said that they can take my word for it. In any case I will follow the instructions and send out an email. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 05:27, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

@Sanjev Rajaram: You said in that file's description: My good friend Keith Balan filmed the video so Thank you Keith for filming. So Keith Balan should be the one sending an email to the OTRS, not you, because Keith Balan is the copyright holder. Poké95 05:29, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Pokéfan95: Sure no problem ill have him send out an email but the fact of the matter is that it is still mine because he recorded it on my phone and fully knows that it's on this Wiki. Also you make literally no sense how does someone else recording it on my phone make him the copyeright holder. Whatever I'll have him send out the email but you're making this way harder than it needs to be. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 05:33, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Sanjev Rajaram: Just because he recorded it in your phone, it means you are the copyright holder. No. The copyright holder is the person who took that gif, and it is not you, according to the file's description. Poké95 05:36, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Pokéfan95: My apologizes for getting a little heated its late at night and I was tired. Keith Balan sent out the email to the respective address so all copyright issues hsould be cleared up soon. Have a good day. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 05:46, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Sanjev Rajaram: I just removed the "no permission" tag and added {{OTRS pending}} in the permission field. Thanks, Poké95 05:48, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Pokéfan95: Thank you and again my sincere apologizes for getting a little angry. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 05:50, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Sanjev Rajaram: No need to apologize, I understand. Poké95 05:57, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
@Pokéfan95: Very kind of you. :). Thanks. Let me know if you ever require any images for upload that I may have or help with any Wikiprojects. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 06:03, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Saving code

Hi Pokéfan95. There is no need to save code, it is not saving disk space. --Steinsplitter (talk) 13:28, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Copyright

Hey Pokfan95 I just had a question about copyright. Why was the image belong to the person who recorded the video rathe than the person who told that person to record the video for them? --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 03:26, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

@Sanjev Rajaram: Because the person who recorded the video is the author of the video, and commonly, the copyright holder of a video is the author, rather than the person who owns the recording device. The person who owns the recording device can only be the copyright holder if it is a work for hire, or the author made a "transfer of copyright" statement to the person who owns the recording device. Well, I am not a copyright expert at all (most of the volunteers here are not copyright experts, they just have a decent understanding). For more questions on copyright, you may ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright (shortcut: COM:VPC). Thanks, Poké95 03:53, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Under tehcnical deifinition it is a work for hire since I told him to record it for me and my own purposes. I never disclosed whether any payment was given or not for the service so how can one assume that it is nota work for hire? I am sorry I don't want to be picky about this but I don't want this to happen again with other images I uploadand I think there is too much gray area for someone to say that an image I told someone to take of me is copyrighted by them. I shall consult the Village pump. --Sanjev Rajaram (talk) 03:28, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

/* File:HypixelLogo.png */

Hello! Just a clarification, you commented that the author of the image should submit a ticket at Commons:OTRS, right? Well, the author doesn't even use Wikipedia, he isn't even a member. He just gave me permission to use, so I used it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Target360YT (talk • contribs)

@Target360YT: Yes, they should send an email to the OTRS, to confirm that they want to release their image under a free license (example, CC-BY-SA-4.0). Thanks, Poké95 04:36, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

AN/U

And I suggest you stop commenting on those threads, since you clearly are not familiar with the policies you are talking about. Thank You. --Laber□T 11:48, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

@Laberkiste: I may not be perfect, but how can you be sure that I am clearly not familiar with the policies I am talking about? What an insult. Can you just do something more constructive instead? Poké95 12:03, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Well, assuming good faith means that you assume that users do things in good faith, it does not mean that they can upload photos where they would clearly know that these are copyrighted. --Laber□T 12:05, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
@Laberkiste: And you still cannot move on from it? An administrator already said to you that you should assume good faith. And FYI, COM:AGF is a guideline, not a policy. I assume good faith on that user because they uploaded only 1 copyvio and we assume that the user don't know that it is copyrighted. It is just their first copyvio of 2016, and we will just assume bad faith too fast? Think about it. Poké95 12:09, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
