Question mark

[edit]

Hi, I don't want to spoil the fun but both the question mark, Image:Question mark.png, semicolon, full stop and the other signs used in text have been used since medieval times and are in the public domain. May I suggest using PD-ineligible next time? Thuresson 15:27, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Creative Commons

[edit]

Please stop fooling with the CC symbols. They're here for a reason; and they're so widely used that you actually cause great disruption by changing them. No matter what you think, they should be left alone -- really.

Since you provoke me, I shall contact Creative Commons itself and try to work out this issue. Meanwhile, if I see any more degradation of the symbols, I will be quite upset. — Xiongtalk* 18:53, 2005 September 11 (UTC)

I created these new images, but I did not replaced them. See for more information Commons:Deletion requests. WebBoy 20:03, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greek alphabet PNGs replaced with SVGs

[edit]

Hi there. While there's nothing wrong with your Greek alphabet PNGs such as Image:Alpha.png, I felt it was better to use a vector graphics format like SVG which scales better to large sizes, is smaller, and has other advantages. I've created SVG replacements for all of these and requested deletion for the existing ones. I hope you don't mind. Deco 18:53, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK with me, but there is a little bug in your SVG-syntax: on the 3th line xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" is missing. Firefox doesn't display the SVG-image without it. I don't know which program you used, maybe you have to add the code manually. WebBoy 16:27, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check usage

[edit]

Thanks for the note, someone notified me about the same thing late January so I'm starting to do it. Sometimes I just go into useless picture deletion where usage is very rare and I miss one or two that are used. Cheers! -- WB 08:07, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page in many categories

[edit]

Due to the design of your user page User:WebBoy/Sandbox that page appears in many many categories. See for example Category:Skylines. Refer to the side categories bar on the bottom of your page. Please change the page so that it does NOT appear anywhere as an article. 61.46.127.135 25 apr 2006 05:05 (CEST)

Fixed. WebBoy 05:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ridderkerk

[edit]

Thanks for adding the right template and information on Image:Ridderkerk_coa_NL.jpg. - I learned by your edit! :-) (Commons is sometimes very confusing and unstructured - It's good to see if someone cares!) --Sputnik 09:22, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons is indeed very confusing. I had a little help because I understood the original Dutch text. WebBoy 12:37, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Rudolf_Kirchschläger.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Hello, Jelte!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Edo Berger2.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.

The description on this file says, "Toestemming van Marc de Hond" which gather means he gave you permission. We would need a record of that permission in the COM:OTRS system, so you should get in contact with them. You can use the OTRS pending tag when that happens. Wknight94 talk 15:18, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That picture is a promotional picture and I don't believe the uploader at nl.wp is the copyright owner. We often get people creating accounts to do nothing but upload a single picture. When that picture is an obvious promotional picture, it needs OTRS or it gets deleted. Wknight94 talk 16:58, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
