Hi there. This page was out of scope since it was, as far as I can tell, a user-specific gallery with no stated scope. If you would like it restored and moved to your userspace, please let me know. Regards, –Juliancolton | Talk 12:50, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello Juliancolton, thank you for your message and the offered help. I am not sure, what you are talking about but as far, as I see, no further steps are needed. Everything seems to be OK for me here on WIKIMEDIA COMMONS. Thanks again, J. Lunau (talk)

Hello !

Thanks for your message !

I'm very happy to see here another new friend !
I'm not so old in "Commons" (only three months), and not a very good photograph, as you can see !
I'm not pretty sure about the rules of CR, but I thought that it existed only to decide between "oppose" and "support" of other reviewers, not for the nominator, that's why I asked this question. In my opinion, if a nominator may put his own picture in "consensual review", then it is in fact a "Court of Appeal", and I disagree with this... But it is only a question, and my poor opinion ! For my own case, when I see a "red frame" around a pic (nominated by others), I'm very interested to re-review it, and if I think so, then, "discuss", and yellow frame. But for my own pictures, I try to convince the "red framer" that he's wrong, but I never change the frame, because I think it is not the rule...
By the way, it's not very important. What is important is what you say : see the nice works of others, improve our capacity to became better, and discuss kindly (if possible !!!Clin).
That's what I try to do.
Friendly from Paris (and sorry for my poor English...)--Jebulon (talk) 21:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

The rood screen of Saint Etienne du Mont

Hello ! You declined my pic because of noise (you are right). I've uploaded a new version, I hope better. Would please have a look and maybe give another opinion ? Anyway, thanks for review, I'll try to use other ISO settings for pictures indoor... It's a new camera...--Jebulon (talk) 21:43, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

First let me say congratulations to your new camera - always „good light“. I think, you did a great job with the picture, now you can not see any noise and you even removed the people. But I haven't seen any CA, I wonder an which part of the shoot you saw it. I only see a small loss of sharpness between your second and third version. --J. Lunau (talk) 12:56, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Funkuhr

meaningful title and description

The rules to which you provided a link state: Quality images must be categorized, have a meaningful title and description. Which of these is lacking? Wolf (talk) 17:14, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

  • Hello Wolf, I refer to point #2 of Image page requirements: "Quality images must be categorized, have a meaningful title and description". I see only a Title in Polish "Głowica systemu TOPLITE" and no category. I tried to find out, what is shown on your photo with use of google, but I still don't know, what your shoot is showing, sorry. --J. Lunau (talk) 17:25, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
    • Apparently, yes, I have forgotten about the categories, my bad. This has now been fixed. But I will mantain that the title is meaningful. It's like File:F-16.JPG, simply states the name of the subject. I've also translated the description, but IIRC, there is no rule stating that descriptions in English are obligatory. Wolf (talk) 18:03, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
      • Thanks for the changes, now I understand, what your photo is showing. I don't want to be a dogmatist and in first line I look to the photo itself. But in this case I really didn't know, what you show with this photo. This leaded to my decline, which I have withdrawn now. Last but not least let me say: you are a good photographer and you did already so many great aviation and military photos, I admire your efforts for COMMONS! --J. unsharp mask

This is a common problem with UM tool: it makes too strong visible effect. But there is also a workaround! You will use several layers in one image. The 1st layer is a source photo, it stays without changes. The 2nd one is a copy for UM filter. After you make the UM effect, this layer will show the half-done result, and you are disturbed by too strong visible effects. Then you make a copy of this layer and prepare the 3rd one.

Now let's remember that UM converts each border into two borders: a darker one from the dark side and a lighter one from the light side. This is made to underscore the contrasts.

The 2nd level has to be applied in "Darken only" mode, this means you will add only those parts that are darker. — The 3rd level has to be applied in "Lighten only" mode, this means you will add only those parts that are lighter. — Now you may manage those two borders differently. You may change the opacity of light borders, or you may change their contrast. Any same changes can be applied to dark borders. This is a powerful method that keeps you happy and healthy :-).--PereslavlFoto (talk) 15:15, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Look-out tower. Check the bright borded around its top. That is because the "Lighten only" level had 100% opacity, but it's better to set its opacity to some lower level. Then this border would be less bright. Thanks.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 19:02, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello PereslvlFoto, first let me thank you for the great tip above. It is amazing, how you can avoid the "white halos" caused by strong USM. About the photo "outlook tower": I used 66,7% opacity on bright layer and 100% for dark layer, but I will check about the bright border, you see. Thanks again! --J. Lunau (talk) 19:20, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Maybe you may add opacity to halo at the tower's top with a semi-transparent eraser applied to bright layer on some places. Or maybe you may change the contrast for this bright layer.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 20:09, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
✓ Done I have reduced light layer (more opacity) and think, now it is OK. Looking foreward to hear your opinion, thanks and greetings --J. Lunau (talk) 10:56, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Yellow church in La Roque-Gageac

Hi Lunau.

Thank you very much for your review.
I knew the previous version you show to me. I find it a (very) bit blue ! The time of the year and of the day is different (see the shadows), and I don't know how was the weather in june 2010. As you can see on the other pictures of mine taken the 11 august 2011, the weather was this day very sunny, and it was later in the afternoon.
What can I say ? The ground in Dordogne is very yellow and ochre (used by painters in the prehistoric caves all around, like Lascaux etc...)
Since other reviewers asked me about "yellow cast" in other pictures, I'm now very careful with this.
I'll try tonight to reduce the yellow chanel again, but I'm not sure with the consequences !
About GIMP, I know this tip I often use. But I'm often disappointed with it. Here is the result of this manipulation, and I'm not happy with (picture taken in another village, very close of La Roque-Gageac, the same 08/11)
Anyway, many thanks again for the time you spend with my picture, it is very kind of you, and very interesting to me.
Greetings from (this day sunny too) Paris.--Jebulon (talk) 14:16, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Hello again, Jebulon,
thanks for your interesting reply. Let me tell you, that I admire you for the many great photos you did for WIKIMEDIA COMMOMS and I like most of your work.
There is one more thing about "yellow cast", I recognized by flicking through your photos: when one of your shoots looks to me bit yellow, you always use a specific white balance (wb) setting instead of automatic white balance (awb) with your SONY DSLR-A550. Maybe you do it with intent but for sure this influences the color tune of your photos.
With my NIKON cameras mostly awb gives the best results, so normally I never use any manual wb.
Kind regards from Germany to France --J. Lunau (talk) 17:32, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
    • Hi Lunau,
Thanks for your admiration. I'm not sure I deserve it, because you are right about the WB. I'll try now to use the awb, I've maybe forgotten to change the wb manually sometimes. But really, this church was a bit yellow.--Jebulon (talk) 16:45, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Concerning this file and your recent edits and comments about it, please be advised that:

  1. The "✡" symbol replacing the usual tittle on the "i" of this logo qualifies this image for both Category:Ornamental tittles and Category:I with diacritics; the former category includes the notion of unorthographic use of diacritics, of course.
  2. While it’s true that this SVG image does’t include any raster data, it is not true that it «is rendered sharp in all resolutions», indeed it is renders crappily at all resolutions, looking especially bad at smaller sizes (which fooled me to think there was pixels in the code), as can be seen in de:Evangeliumsdienst für Israel itself; I suspect that this is caused by the declaration shape-rendering:crispEdges. (It being valid SVG code is irrelevant.)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze

Hallo J. Lunau,
