Foto Gran Paradiso al tramonto

Categoria nel template

Ciao, questa tua modifica ha creato un piccolo problema inaspettato: avevo inserito nella pagina "creator" la categorizzazione automatica in "Photographs by Paolo Monti", per cui ora la categoria viene appolicata a se stessa ;) Non ho idea di come risolvere, tu? --Marco Chemello (BEIC) (talk) 19:14, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Grazie per aver partecipato alle nostre WikiGite: sono un importante tassello della macchina del concorso che permette ogni anno di coinvolgere nuovi fotografi e nuovi appassionati nel mondo della cultura libera.

{{Musei del cibo}}

Hi. I'm currently working on emptying Category:Unsupported technique, which includes lots of files (presumably all) from the Musei del cibo batch upload. This comes from the template {{Musei del cibo}}, which feeds Italian (viz. unsupported) parameters to {{Technique}}. There was quite a bit of thought going into the design of the standard template, to make it practical for i18n. {{Musei del cibo}} is less practical when non-Italian speakers want to edit. Would it not be simpler to use {{Artwork}} directly, without the {{Musei del cibo}} overlayer? I can give a hand if you need help for Italian->English translations. The wrapping template was needed so that we could map all the metadata they gave us, which is not perfect and could not be improved. Using their own format makes future updates possible and lets us handle incompatibilities like this in a single place.

I don't understand whether you are saying that we can modify {{Technique}} to accept Italian input. If not, we need two things: a way to split multi-material/technique strings such as "alluminio, ottone, legno" or "banda stagnata, stampa litografica"; a map between the most common words and the English ones. Salve, ho visto che hai inserito tu questa immagine e la relativa descrizione. Volevo chiederti se hai contatti con i responsabili del museo per farla correggere anche sul loro sito. È tanto piena di errori che è imbarazzante descriverli. Si va dal costruttore, al periodo, alle dimensioni, agli accessori. Il costruttore era lo svizzero Amsler, Salmoiraghi era solo il rivenditore italiano; l'epoca va dalla metà dell'800 agli inizi del 900; i millimetri sono diventati centimetri, è un oggetto tascabile; le cosiddette "astine di prolunga" in realtà servono per calibrare lo strumento. :-((

Per capirci meglio, il planimetro prodotto da Salmoiraghi negli anni 50-60 era il modello 236 e i suoi derivati. Sul sito [Rechnerlexikon] puoi vedere alcuni planimetri Salmoiraghi e trovare i puntatori alle pagine dei cataloghi di inizio secolo. --Ancelli (talk) 20:50, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

@Ancelli: Grazie per la segnalazione, che abbiamo provveduto a girare al personale del museo. Mi fa molto piacere se c'è la possibilità di migliorare le informazioni delle immagini (e anche utilizzarle). Yes it's clearer now. It remains that the titles of the files are not at their best. They should contain more data, such as the brands (Agfa, Kodak,...), the models, etc.

I have looked at all files on Commons since the origin. I stopped on May 20, 2016, due to a bug in the wikimedia database, and I resume viewing since a few days. All intersting images are included in the french photography wikibook https://fr.wikibooks.org/wiki/Photographie.

I know the descriptions are not the best, but at least they include all we know about the photographs. I think the best improvement to the metadata on Commons is to add good categories. Adding thousands of descriptions in a language other than Italian seems unlikely.

In the end, a Wikibooks book like yours might be the best possible way to organise these photos in a useful way. Maybe it's feasible to translate it to other languages as well. Let us know when you're done: maybe Marcok has ideas on how to promote your book from the museum as well. --Nemo 11:12, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
