Pay attention to copyright
File:SolesofPassionInsideCover.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Same for other advertisement and logos. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:50, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
EugeneZelenko: I have requested that three files, including the one in the title above, be undeleted. I had already forwarded a statement from the copyright owner granting permission to use that file and two additional ones that you have deleted. It seems to me that absent any response that the statement granting permission to use the file is invalid, any editor should take the time to first check and see whether such a statement was submitted. I sent the email and I never received a reply:

I had submitted permission from the copyright owner to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. The texst below contains the forward that I sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org on September 25, 2014.

Please communicate with me so I can resolve this rather than run into any ambiguity with respect to what has happened with the file.

I realize everyone at Wikipedia is a volunteer and evidently, there's a disconnection between what I have sent them and what they would need to do and what you do. Why don't the editors that volunteer to delete potential copyright violations set up a system to see if there's something to reconcile first - like in this case, the statement from the copyright holder that verifies this should have never been deleted? I see a number of notes on your discussion page that are similar where permission has been granted but the image was still deleted. I think being in an editorial capacity to do this sort of work (deleting things that are *presumably* not allowed to be used on Wikipedia) gives a single person a great deal of latitude - but it seems it would be in genuine good faith to help promote a system where the left arm speaks to the right arm and other editors with less "authority" feel that their work is respected so long as they follow the rules, which was the case in the Soles of Passion article. I've shown you what was sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, it just seems it'd be in good faith to consider that maybe the picture(s) was (were) deleted in error? I mean do some editors just focus on deleting this stuff but not helping editors and contributors reconcile any potential inconsistencies like this one first? For instance, I noticed this on your Discussion page: "Deletion requests are usually opened for comments for ~ week. Then one of administrators will make decision. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:13, 17 September 2014 (UTC)" Is there a reason this didn't apply here? I also noticed that you got a "barnstar" for deleting images - where do you recommend we submit a suggestion that editors be awarded barnstars for helping other editors reconcile potential issues with their images rather than for ammassing deletions? I'm just trying to understand what could help improve the system to honor good faith in editors and contributors.--1987atomheartbrother (talk) 20:38, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:BrandenJamesHeadshot.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Machan Taylor by Maria Chiara Freddura.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.
