The Ruhmeshalle (Hall of Fame) in the old Zeughaus (Berlin) was a permanent exhibition from 1891 to 1945 that celebrated the state Prussia and its House of Hohenzollern, especially its kings and military leaders. It was partly destroyed by bombing in World War II. In 1947, Prussia was abolished by the Allies, and the communist regime in East Germany spurned Prussia for its militarism and absolutism. This popular museum was replaced by an historical exhibition that traced German history from a socialist perspective.
