Summary[edit]

Description
English: Riding one of the elegant and luxurious elevators at the famous State House in Columbia, SC. This elevator has the old style Westinghouse chime with Epco Circleline buttons. The directional indicators are Innovation Vandal Resistant.

The marble floor on the first floor is over 100 years old, and the vaulted ceiling is made out of painted hand-carved brick. There are 22 total Corinthian columns at the State House and are made out of solid granite. The dome is made out of solid copper; equivalent to 8 million pennies. That would be worth about $800,000.

The first floor is the lower lobby, and it contains the clerk of the Senate, the clerk of the House, an Auditorium for the people in office, and the lieutenant governor's (Andre Bauer) office. The second floor is the main lobby. It contains the Senate chamber, the House chamber, and the government library. The third floor is the balcony of the Senate chamber, the House chamber, the Main Lobby, and the government library (now blocked off). Also, you are able to go to that balcony and watch the Senate or the House while it is in session. Unfortunately, they weren't in session while I was there.
