DescriptionSupport system for the ELT’s main mirror (h9A0636).tiff |
English: The support system underneath the segments of the ELT’s main mirror. The black cylinders are positioning actuators that keep all segments aligned with each other. Each segment is equipped with three actuators. The trumpet-shaped structures at the sides are used to grab and lift the segments with a special crane. Each segment has three of these gripping points. |
