Summary[edit]

Description
English: Colonel Bjelajac was Secretary of war to the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia at the time Hitler bombed Belgrade in 1941. After seeing the Yugoslav Government off from a small landing strip Montenegro, he was captured by the Germans. After escaping from a POW camp, he returned to Yugoslavia to lead a force of 10,000 guerillas and an underground of 15000 underground patriots under the supreme command of General Mihailovich. Post WW2 Colonel Bjelajac worked for the US military establishment where he produced over 150 unclassified and classified studies on psychological operations, unconventional warfare, counterinsurgency, and subversion. During the 1950s and 1960s, academics and experts alike turned to his works in formulating the United States’ doctrines of unconventional warfare and counterinsurgency.
