This Lunar Shatter Cone was the result of a massive asteroidal/meteorite impact event on the Lunar surface.

Description
English: All shatter cones, whether on Earth, the Moon, or elsewhere, are clearly indicative of meteoritic impacts. See "The Flower Bloom on the Moon," and "Shatter Cones" Youtube videos for more information produced by other scientists.

This specimen, along with others, was recovered near Montrose, CO. The elemental chemistry of these specimens are consistent with NASA/ASU's LROC Photography & Spectrometry of the area surrounding the "The Flower Bloom on the Moon." These elements include Ca, Mn, Fe, FeO, Cu, Zn, Zr, Ba, Sr, and Rh, with Rh being the rarest of all elements found on the crust of the Earth.
