Description
Deutsch: Sewanawank ist ein Kloster am nordwestlichen Ufer des Sewansees in Armenien. Das Kloster stand auf einer bis zum Ende des 8. Jahrhunderts unbewohnten kleinen Insel im See; erst die massive Ableitung des Seewassers für landwirtschaftliche Bewässerungsprojekte während der Sowjetzeit und der dadurch stark reduzierte Wasserpegel machten aus der einstigen Insel die heutige Halbinsel.

English: Sevanavank is a monastic complex located on a peninsula at the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan. Initially the monastery was built at the southern shore of a small island. After the artificial draining of Lake Sevan the island transformed into a peninsula. Sevanavank is one of the most visited tourism sights in Armenia.
