Description
English: Synthesis of phenol-formaldehyde resin

1.2 g of phenol, 3.5 ml of acetic acid and 1.5 ml of a 37-40% aqueous solution of formaldehyde are placed in a test tube. The tube is gently heated to melt the phenol and obtain a homogeneous solution. Then, the test tube is cooled in an ice bath, and 3.5 mL of HCl is added to the tube in a digester. The solution is gently stirred until a solid polymer begins to form and set aside to complete polymerization. The tube is cooled, and the polymer is removed.

Во епрувета се ставаат 1,2 g фенол, 3,5 ml оцетна киселина и 1,5 mL 37-40%-ен воден раствор на формалдехид. Епруветата благо се загрева за да се стопи фенолот и да се добие хомоген раствор. Во ледена бања се лади епруветата, во дигестор, во епруветата се ставаат 3,5 mL HCl. Благо се промешува сѐ додека не почне да се образува цврст полимер, а потоа се остава на страна за да заврши полимеризацијата. Епруветата се лади и се вади полимерот.
