Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille[edit]
I was hoping someone here might be able to help out. We've been getting literally hundreds of images from the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille. They come from various uploaders, but they all show a very similar poor understanding of Commons' category system. I've been trying to fix them, at least to the point of sanity, but after several hundred images and still more coming in, I'm running low in patience and interest.
Summary of the misunderstanding: lots of redundant and nonexistent categories: e.g. the same image will have Category:Temporary exhibitions in the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Category:Palais des Beaux Arts de Lille, Category:Palais des Beaux Arts, Category:Museums, Category:Lille, Category:Exhibitions; names of artists all in lowercase in category names so they are guaranteed not to match any existing category for that artist; equivalent category names given in multiple languages, sometimes as many as four languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian); arbitrary categories like Category:Joie de vivre that are unlikely ever to be valid categories; etc.
Is someone from this project in touch with the relevant people? Could you either reach out to them and teach them how to do this, or take responsibility for categorizing their images? Thanks in advance. - Jmabel ! talk 01:11, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
