A nucleation point in a thin crystalline film of an iron-based compound photographed through compensated polarisation microscopy. KarlGaff		Cells packed with chloroplasts and birefringence exhibted by the cell walls in a moss leaf.. KarlGaff		This micrograph shows a vein of anhydrite (large triangular shapes) cutting a host rock of siltstone, filled with quartz and clay minerals. Anhydrite has perfect cleavage, resulting in the triangular forms seen here. The image is cross-polarised light, with anhydrite often displaying these characteristic pinks, blues and grey colours. This sample is from the Lubambe Cu-Co mine, Zambia an important supplier of metals needed for the global green transition. Scale included.Aileen555

		No filters, no shades on the lens, nothing at all accept the perfect atmospheric complexion for me to get a naked eye picture of the Sun! Granted it was setting but it was a stunning thing to behold, particularly in between a gap in the hedgerow like this! Just wish I'd captured it in full! Paddynaramore

An amazing sight seeing the Northern lights, here in Ireland. Taken at my local Castle Lake, and area of outstanding natural beauty. Olliebailie		I was chasing clear skies across 4 counties to try catch the aurora and finally got a brief and colourful display at Portmarnock Beach Ireland. 		Star trails over Newgrange IrelandI used my Canon 6D and a Samyang 14mm lens on a tripod over the Neolithic Newgrange site in Meath Ireland and took 30 second exposures for a couple of hours and stacked them all in starstax. Anthony's astro

I was taking pictures of the full moon from the Phoenix park in Dublin Ireland with my Canon 6D and a 70-200mm lens when I noticed the crane over Dublin city so I ran to the other side of the field to try get it to line up and it did. Anthony's astro		I used an astro modified 13 year old camera. While waiting for the milky way to rise at 3am, I shot a pano of this old bog train that sits on the hill in Lough Boora park in Offaly Ireland using a Canon 600D and a 16-35mm lens. Later in the night I shot a pano of the milkyway with the same camera without moving the tripod. I used a star tracker to allow me to get longer exposures of the stars.Anthony's astro
