Commons:Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH
Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH is an institution managing tourism in Augsburg, Germany. They are also running several museums and other cultural institutions in and around the city.
Partnership history[edit]
In February 2014, Neitram contacted Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH to suggest a partnership between them and local Wikipedians with the aim of improving the Wikipedia articles on various topics related to Augsburg. An initial main focus will be the subject of Augsburg's historical canal system and water towers (which are the oldest water towers in Germany and possibly in central Europe). The partnership is intended to be a GLAM project in which Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH will provide information and images and Wikipedians will do the uploads, write and edit the articles. The director of Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH, Götz Beck, agreed to provide support in the form of books, brochures and other material to Wikipedians to use as sources, as well as images to be released under a Creative Commons license.
Neitram, who is a Wikipedian since 2004 and a founder and regular attendant of the Wikipedia Stammtisch Augsburg, found other Wikipedians willing to join in the work and launched WikiProjekt Augsburg as a bigger project in which the GLAM cooperation will be embedded.
Water in Augsburg[edit]
In March 2014, the first 27 images were provided. With the aid of Christoph Braun (thanks again!), an OTRS permission letter was prepared and signed. On April 2, Neitram uploaded the images and created a new entry on Commons:Partnerships.
The next step will be to improve the descriptions, to add more metadata and categories, to rename the files as needed and to use the images in Wikipedia articles.
In April 2014, Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH also created a contact between Neitram and Martin Kluger (author and co-founder of Context Verlag) who will also support the cooperation with his expertise on the subject matter.
