Oppose. "(Baroque/Romanesque) Paintings of (greek/nors) mythology " is more analytical, corresponds better with current naming style and is more expandable (Greek, Roman, ...). --Foroa (talk) 06:10, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A new look at "mythos"[edit]

For some time I have been searching for a way to categorize paintings based on literary works in the genre system. There is no direct genre, but it seems that the mythology gerne would be the best fit. The greek word "mythos" originally means "story", and that is more or less what literature is. We have come to take mythology as a more narrow definition of religion-like concepts, but I think - for the sake of inclusion (and to make the category system work) - that time has come to use the broader (original) definition. A lot of artists have made works based on stories and plays, and I think that a new category of Category:Literary paintings will be helpfull. Cheers Rsteen (talk) 09:48, 10 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
