English: Fonts with non-standard character encodings, containing symbols or Dingbats substituted in place of normal characters, effectively following custom code pages. Most (but not all) of these characters have standard Unicode mappings, e.g. the Apple-supplied and Adobe-supplied mappings for Symbol and (Zapf) Dingbats, and the Wingdings/Webdings mappings finalised in the document UTC L2/12-368. For fonts with icon symbols only encoded to private-use code points (such as symbols based on the proprietary Apple logo, present in legacy charsets for Apple II and MacOS, or other semi-graphics logos and symbols present in 8-bit charsets for historic personal computers like Atari TOS), Category:Icon fonts may be more applicable.
