Boy's radios were pocket-sized primitive TRF (tuned radio frequency) AM radios sold in the US in late 1950s and 1960s. Unlike externally similar, more complex pocket-sized superhets, the common Coronet-style boy's radio had only two transistor stages. The exact origin of these mass-produced Japanese radios, coming in various guises but very similar inside, is unknown.
