@Archaeodontosaurus: How did you determine the species? On your photo, the mesosternal process (between the middle legs) is spherical which is characteristic of Cetonia spp. (most likely C.aurata) and is very different from that of Protaetia fieberi or any other Protaetia spp. Here's a key to the French Cetoniinae species: Zagatti et Guy You can also post insects on this French forum for identification: https://www.insecte.org/forum/ or on iNaturalist --Dimitǎr Boevski (talk) 11:08, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
