Title
The Town Crier, v.11, no.6, Feb. 5, 1916
Description

Page 1 features comic photograph "The Erickson Monument on Cedar River."

The altered photograph here refers to the Seattle Municipal Light and Power Plant ("Cedar Falls" plant). The Town Crier was very skeptical about the project, and about municipal power supply in general. The picture shows an imaginary plaque on the dam, "Erected by the taxpayers of Seattle in tribute to the political activities of Oliver T. Erickson A.D. MCMXIV" and is captioned "The Erickson Monument on Cedar River. Erected by the taxpayers at a cost of about $2,000,000[.] Useless for any save historic purposes[.]"

This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: The plaque is, of course, entirely imaginary..
