Bonalu: A powerful homage to Goddess Mahakali and Telangana's cultural heritage, resonating through the streets of Hyderabad and Secunderabad

English: Bonalu is a Hindu Festival where Goddess Mahakali is worshiped. It is an annual festival celebrated in the twin Cities Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana state, India.
Bonalu is celebrated usually during Ashada Masam that falls in July/August. Special poojas are performed for goddess Yellamma during the first and last day of the festival. The festival is considered as a form of thanksgiving to the Goddess after the fulfillment of vows. Bonam literally means Meal in Telugu, which is an offering to the Mother Goddess. Women folk in household prepare rice that is cooked along with Milk, Jaggery in a New Earthen or Brass Pot, which is adorned with Neem Leaves, Turmeric and Vermilion. Women carry these pots on their heads and make an offering of Bonam, including Bangles and Saree to the Mother Goddess at Temples. Bonalu involves worship of Kali in her various forms such Mysamma, Pochamma, Yellamma, Dokkalamma, Pedamma, Poleramma, Ankalamma, Maremma, Nookalamma etc.
తెలుగు: బోనలు ఒక హిందూ పండుగ, ఇక్కడ మహాకాళి దేవిని పూజిస్తారు. ఇది వార్షిక నగరమైన హైదరాబాద్ మరియు సికింద్రాబాద్ మరియు భారతదేశంలోని తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలోని ఇతర ప్రాంతాలలో జరుపుకుంటారు.
బోనలు సాధారణంగా జూలై / ఆగస్టులో వచ్చే ఆశా మాసం సందర్భంగా జరుపుకుంటారు. పండుగ మొదటి మరియు చివరి రోజులలో యల్లమ్మ దేవత కోసం ప్రత్యేక పూజలు చేస్తారు. ఈ పండుగ ప్రతిజ్ఞ నెరవేర్చిన తరువాత దేవతకు కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలుపుతుంది. బోనమ్ అంటే తెలుగులో భోజనం అని అర్ధం, ఇది మాతృదేవికి నైవేద్యం. ఇంట్లో ఉన్న జానపద ప్రజలు పాలు, బెల్లంతో పాటు నూనె మట్టి లేదా ఇత్తడి కుండలో వండుతారు, వీటిని వేప ఆకులు, పసుపు మరియు వెర్మిలియన్లతో అలంకరిస్తారు. మహిళలు ఈ కుండలను తమ తలపై మోసుకెళ్ళి, దేవాలయాల వద్ద ఉన్న మాతృదేవికి గాజులు మరియు చీరలతో సహా బోనం సమర్పణ చేస్తారు. బోనలులో మైసమ్మ, పోచమ్మ, యెల్లమ్మ, డోక్కలమ్మ, పెడమ్మ, పోలరమ్మ, అంకలమ్మ, మరేమ్మ, నూకలమ్మ మొదలైన వివిధ రూపాల్లో కాశీని ఆరాధించడం జరుగుతుంది.
