Description |
English: Sacred Heart Church was the second Catholic church to be built in Seattle, assembled from materials left after the 1889 fire at Sixth and Bell Street. That first church burned in 1899 and was rebuilt by 1901. In 1928, Sacred Heart became a victim of the Denny regrade project. This building is the convent. The bell tower of the Denny School is visible on the right side of the photograph. In 1960, the parish constructed a new church, a convent and school near the future Worlds Fair site. Handwritten on sleeve: Sacred Heart Church Old Bldgs.
