Description
English: Climbing through mysterious ice chambers, these figures are Royal Marines exploring the stunning beauty of Antarctica.

At first glance it’s difficult to tell if these commandoes are under water – instead they were making their way through a deep blue wilderness.

They are from the Royal Navy’s ice patrol ship HMS Protector, which has ventured further south than ever before during a delivery of vital supplies to a research station.
