English: A Roro chief decorated for a ceremonial dance.
The ornament hanging over the middle of his chest is the badge of his office; its essential feature being the double row of boars' tusks, ground down into thin plates. A young chief, on reaching the age of manhood is publicly and ceremoniously invested with this ornament in the clan club house. Dansk: Rorohäuptling im Festschmuck Das auf der Mitte der Brust ruhende Schmuckstück ist das Abzeichen der Häuptlingswürde, es besteht in der Hauptsache aus zwei Reihen zu dünnen Plättchen abgeschliffener Hauer des Ebers. Ein junger Häuptling, der das Mannesalter erreicht, wird feierlich mit diesem Zeichen geschmückt. |
