The last photo I took with my Nonna.

| Description |
English: Visiting my Nonna (grandmother) in her hospital room, I noticed she seemed upbeat and had a bit more energy. I was elated! Nonna and Grandpa raised my brother and me in an Italian'esque household in Washington, DC. Nonna said, "Antoinette, take a photo for that Facebook thing." She fluffed up her lovely silver hair, asked for a pillow and we posed for my iPhone camera. Not knowing it would be the last photo I ever took with my beloved Nonna, but smiling with all the love in my heart for this woman who raised me, I snapped quickly. Three days later after Nonna left this earth, I found out that her doctor had just told her that she could go home to be in peace. She didn't want any of the family to know, fearful that we would make her stay in the hospital, filling her last days with nurses, injections, and away from the peace of the home she created with my Grandpa who had passed away several years earlier.
