Description

Meteorito de Gibeón.Pertenece a la Agrupación Astronómica de Gran Canaria AAGC. Sección de un meteorito metálico encontrado en Gibeón, Namibia del tipo octaedrita fina, en ella se puede observarse claramente las figuras de Widmanstatten, las bandas cruzadas que pueden obsrvarse en el ejemplar.Estas figuras consisten en un intercrecimiento muy caracteristico de camacita y taemita ( dos tipos de aleaciones de hierro y niquel, con estrcturas cristalinas diferentes ) que se desarrollan por enfriamiento lento del solido metalico a temperaturas entre 700 y 350 grados centigrados.No hay ninguna aleación natural o artificial en la Tierra que presente una estructura similar.
