Border between Silesia and Lesser Poland in the Middle Aged

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Border between Silesia and Lesser Poland in the Middle Ages:
  • thick red line - established border since medieval times;
  • pink line - transfer/gift of probably back then not essential land in 1177/1179, Note: some scholars believe it happened in tranches up to the early 13th century;
  • red dotted lines - eastern borders of the Duchies of Siewierz and Oświęcim (Auschwitz), around 1274 that border was moved from Skawa in the west to Skawinka in the east;
  • yellow dotted line - Castellany of Chrzanów according to Robert Malik ([1]), which probably temporarily also belonged to Silesia, but views differ on timeline and if it was part of the gift in 1177/1179, or was transferred later and if it was exchanged for the land between Skawa and Skawinka in 1274;
  • pink dotted line - area outside of the castellany of Chrzanów and Siewierz that according to M. Leś-Runicka in the book Historia Jaworzna do 1795 roku, (Jaworzno, 2011) also belonged to Silesia just like Chrzanów ([2]); this area also belonged to the parish in Mysłowice up to the 19th century;
  • pink dots - westernmost parishes of the Diocese of Kraków in the years 1325-1327 - many scholars believe the border between the dioceses of Wrocław and Kraków is a result of the gift of 1177/1179;
