Description

"May 14, 1914 Vera Cruz, Mexico

Dear Mother, I received your letter yesterday and was glad to get it. Have been in Vera Cruz for about a week and a half but haven't landed yet on account of the mediation proceedings. Am still on board the Salem. The city of Vera Cruz is in possession of the U.S. troops and there a lot of U.S. Soldiers and Marines in the town but they can't land..."
