Title
Jackson St. looking east from King Street Coal Wharf, 1902
Description

Transcribed from photograph: "Seattle Views. From Jackson St. Wharf. Ca. 1892. Looking east. Pile driver and winches in foreground; St Charles Hotel to the left; Seattle Brass and Bell Foundry to the right; Academy of Holy Names and South School in background."

SPL's estimated date (c. 1892) is off by a decade. The postcard at File:Jackson Street Regrade changes, ca. 1909 - DPLA - 16ac94cedcc903ff5f4426fedb27da48 (page 1).jpg uses a much retouched version of this photo as the "Then" of a "Then and Now" and dates it 1902 (so it is almost certainly legitimately by Asahel Curtis, not just something he bought the rights to and reprinted, which would have been the case for an 1892 photo). For a similar view in 1892, see File:Waterfront near Jackson St and the Oregon Improvement Company's dock at the foot of Main St showing steamboat IDAHO at left (BOYD+BRAAS 89).jpg.
