Description
Deutsch: Historistisches Porträtbild des Herzogs Otto von Österreich ("Otto der Fröhliche") (gest. 1339) aus der Dynastie der Habsburger. Er war der jüngste Sohn von König Albrecht I., später gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Herzog Albrecht (II.) "dem Lahmen" Herzog von Österreich, Steier und Kärnten sowie Herr auf der Krain. Das Bild zeigt ihn als Stifter des Zisterzienserklosters von Neuberg an der Mürz, das er 1327 stiftete und wo er mit seiner Familie beigesetzt ist. Der Maler ist unbekannt, das Bild wurde zwischen 1731 und 1747 gemalt und gilt als nicht authentisch. Es, hängt heute an der Ostwand der früheren Klosterkirche und jetzigen Pfarrkirche, gemeinsam mit einem weiteren historistischen Porträtbild, das die erste Ehefrau von Herzog Otto zeigt. Beide Porträts sind aufeinander abgestimmt und bilden zusammen ein Doppelporträt.
English: Historic portrait of Duke Otto of Austria ("Otto the Merry") from the Habsburg dynasty, on which he is shown as the founder of the Cistercian monastery Neuberg an der Mürz. The picture, which dates from the 18th or 19th century and is considered to be inauthentic, hangs today in the former monastery church and current parish church, together with another historicist portrait showing her wife of Duke Otto. Both images are coordinated and together form a double portrait. The painter is unknown.
