a-sionally displays a blue-greenish glow long aftersunset, and succeeded in obtaining a night picture ofthe mountain by means of this glow, which ishighly actinic. This he did by projecting the imagesgiven by photographic lenses, in a dark chamber, ona glass plate coated with a layer of Balmains phos-phorus instead of collodion. After a short exposurethus, he removed the glass plate in the dark, andplaced it in contact with a moderately sensitive dryphotographic plate. After an hour of contact in thedark, a picture was found on the plate with all thedetails as in an ordinary photographic negative. I am unable to find the original account of this,and only write doubtfully from memory. Perhapssome of the readers of Science-Gossip may possessthe record, and be able to supply particulars.
