Ghumat - The statehood musical instrument of Goa

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Ghumat, originating from the rich musical tradition of Goa-India, is a special drum covered with monitor lizard skin. This drum produces a unique sound that captivates listeners due to its cultural significance and special tone. Talented craftsmen carefully place lizard skin over a clay pot to create the drum, giving it its special sound. The vibrant colors and festive atmosphere of Ganeshotsav are incomplete without the rhythmic "thak" sound produced by playing the Ghumat.
