Summary[edit]

Description
English: Principle of double pitch (assumed here: B/F) with a modern French Horn, seen from the back. Pressing the Fourth valve changes the slides used in conjunction with the other valves. The arrows in the valves show which side the air flows through: white for the front bore, black for the back bore.
  • Upper view: The Fourth valve and the Minor second valve are pressed, resulting in an E. Air flows through the long tubing (green) and the shortest slide on the back side.
  • Lower view: The Minor third valve is pressed, resulting in a G. Air flows through the short tubing (green) and the longest slide on the front side.
