Description
English: Stock certificate of Electrical Accumulator Company dated February 19, 1886, originally signed by Theodore N. Vail as president. Founded in 1886, the company was a subsidiary of the Electrical Power Storage Company, founded in London in 1882 and the first in the world to build electric batteries. Among Electrical Accumulator Company's notable employees was Massachusetts inventor and engineer Morgan Brooks. Electrical Accumulator Company successfully built accumulators for electric boats, electric lighting in streetcars, trains, stations, etc. The Pratt Electric Tricycle Car, America's first electric automobile, introduced in Boston in 1888, was powered by Electrical Accumulator Company batteries. The car reached a speed of 8 miles per hour.
