At 240 square meters, this is the largest canvas ceiling painting north of the Alps.
Opposite the table of the gods at Olympus, the Muses make music. The figures, from left to right (with their attributes): Euterpe: lyric poetry (flute), Erato: lyric poetry (stringed instrument), Terpsichore: dance (lyra, dance step), Clio: history (stylus), Calliope: epic poetry (book), Melpomene: tragedy (wreath of grape leaves), Polyhymnia: song (without attribute, in a pensive pose), Urania: astronomy (globe), Thalia: comedy (mask).

Von links nach rechts (mit ihren Attributen): Euterpe: lyrische Poesie (Flöte), Erato: Dichtkunst (Saiteninstrument), Terpsichore: Tanz (Lyra, Tanzschritt), Klio: Geschichtsschreibung (Griffel), Kalliope: epische Dichtung (Buch), Melpomene: Tragödie (Kranz aus Weinlaub), Polyhymnia: Gesang (ohne Attribut, in nachdenklicher Haltung), Urania: Astronomie (Globus), Thalia: Komödie (Maske).
