Title
Copper alloy star-shaped inner horse harness pendant. Outer frame missing.
Description
English: Complete cast copper alloy horse harness pendant of possible Post-medieval date. Length 53mm, width 35mm and 4.5mm thick. Weight 21.71g.

The pendant (inner pendant)is the type that would have been suspended from a mount within an enclosing frame. It is star-shaped and has eleven even sized and regular points. One side, presumably the front, is slightly convex and the other side is flat. The shaft (or neck) is 11m in length and the suspension loop, which is at a right angle to the pendant is 9mm in length. The shaft is sub-square in cross-section, about 5mm x 5mm. Viewed from the side, the integral suspension loop is oval in shape (the major axis is vertical) and there is a small waist at the junction of the shaft and loop. The perforation to take the bar is also oval in shape with a vertical major axis. The oval shape of this perforation may have been created by constant wear whilst the pendant was in use.
The pendant has a solid and robust appearance. There are small patches of bronze disease. However, the reddish coloured copper alloy appears, on the whole, to be in a stable condition.
