Description
Español: CLASIFICACIÓN DE LAS GALAXIAS SEGÚN HUBBLE.

Clasificación según Edwin P. Hubble (1889-1953).

E = elípticas, de 0 a 7. Cero (0) es una esfera y 7 una elipsoide.

S0 = lenticulares, por la forma de una lente.

S = espirales (a=brazos cerrados, b=medianamente cerrados y c=abiertos), tal como un remolino con un centro muy luminoso y compacto formado por gases y estrellas.

SB = espirales barradas (a=brazos cerrados, b=medianamente cerrados y c=abiertos). Las espirales barradas son como remolinos pero en su centro presentan una barra, generalmente recta y más luminosa, formada por gases y estrellas, todo muy compacto como los centros de las galaxias espirales simples.

De las observadas y catalogadas: el 77% son espirales y espirales barradas, el 20% son elípticas y el 3% irregulares.

Nota: no hay en el espacio, Universo, las del tipo S2Bc (espirales doble barradas clase "c").
