Summary[edit]

Description
English: Railway control room, Ellarsyde, near Popperinghe, Belgium, during World War I. This photograph shows the central control board for railway transport based at Ellarsyde, which appears to have been near Ypres. The board shows destinations and tags have been put on it to show which engines and wagons are in transit or available. Many of the place names such as 'Vauxhall', Bedford' and Vampire' are code names for places on the Front.
