Summary[edit]

Description
English: Carboniferous Fossils This band of rock is chock-a-block with fossils about 350 million years old. The pound coin is for scale. The little white circles are cross-sections of the stems of crinoids, or sea lilies, and the long white fragments are also crinoid stems. The bits that look like lace are bryozoan colonies. Their modern descendants look very similar and can easily be found on large fronds of seaweed.
