Summary[edit]
DescriptionC2020F3 7a6.png |
English: Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)
Comet NEOWISE became a worldwide sensation when it unexpectedly achieved naked-eye visibility in early July, making it the brightest northern comet since the Great Comet of 1997, Hale-Bopp. Despite putting on the best show in 23 years, NEOWISE was not a Great Comet. Hopefully, we will see one of those soon! NEOWISE continues to fade away. Its appearance is now similar to a normal comet, except for the faint remnants of its dust tail. Soon it will disappear and become history! Apparent magnitude: 7.0 (estimate from Stellarium) Distance from Earth: 1.144 AU Orbital period: 6,953 years Velocity (relative to Sun): 25 mile/s (40 km/s) Total integration: 1 hour 6 minutes 66 x 60 seconds ISO200 Camera: Canon T3i (stock / unmodified / unmodded DSLR) Telescope: Explore Scientific ED80 f/6.0 Apochromatic Refractor (with ES field flattener) Mount: Orion Sirius EQ-G Guide scope: Svbony 50mm f/4.0 Guide Scope Guide camera: Orion StarShoot AutoGuider Software: N.I.N.A. with PlateSolve2 and PHD2 Bortle Class 7 ~18.44 mag/arcsec^2 (Coral Springs, FL) Pre-processed with PixInsight, processed with PixInsight and Paint.NET |

This work has been released into the public domain by the author on Flickr, where the author has declared it as a "Public Domain Work" and tagged it with the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark.
|
||
The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
| ||
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.
