Summary[edit]

Description
English: Diagram showing the twelve notes of a keyboard, related to each other by means of fifths reduced by a syntonic quarter comma. It presents a special fifth, in blue color, which is larger than the perfect fifth. In the mesotonic system represented, all major thirds comprising four fifths are 5/4 perfect thirds. The difference between this perfect third and the Pythagorean ditone, formed by four perfect fifths, would be a syntonic comma, but this comma has been distributed among the four fifths, at the rate of a quarter comma in each one, which gives rise to the perfect thirds.
