Title
Buckle plate
Description
English: A cast copper alloy buckle plate engraved with a capital M in the Black lettering style. The buckle plate is roughly square in shape. The plate is flat and thin, but the end opposite the rivetted end is slightly bent. The area around the letter M has been engraved with rocker arm engraving marks, typical of the 13th - 14th century. There are two iron rivets on the right-hand corners. The iron rivet are badly corroded and the edges of the plate are badly worn. The object has a dark brownish-green patina.
