Title |
Bronze Age flint snapped flake end (drawing) |
||
Description |
English: Flint fragment of a flake, consisting of just the proximal end which has been snapped off. The fragment is semi-ovate in plan, trapezoidal in section and flat in profile. This proximal end that remains has been retouched on the right edge of the dorsal face. The end may have been snapped off deliberately to create a rectangular-shaped (in plan) blade. The flint has been exposed to the elements so that it is almost white. The length to breadth ratio is about 4:3, but it is a fragment from a longer flake.
Bond (2004) illustrates an example of a complete blade with one end snapped off on page 152, Fig.5.136, No.F141, which is dated to the Early Bronze Age. |
