July 27. 2019 Southern California A spill response operating team (SROT) prepares to receive an oil spill boom reel aboard their response vessel as part of an exercise. The boom on the reel will be unspooled by the SROT from the vessel to practice containing an oil spill from an offshore facility. BSEE Preparedness Analysts from the Oil Spill Preparedness Division (OSPD) regularly inspect this type of equipment and observe industry training and exercise activities to ensure compliance with regulations and to monitor the overall vigor of the oil spill preparedness and response community.
