Description
English: Complete bone needle or bodkin of unknown date. Length 112mm, width 15mm and 4mm thick. Weight 5.36g.

The shaft of the implement is sub-elliptical in cross-section and has a spatulated head which is sub-rectangular in cross-section. The lower part of the head is pierced with a circular hole, 5mm in diameter. The surface of one face is largely covered by a shiny patina. The surfaces of the other face and each side are eroded. Found within estuarine silt.
